Why this test matters
Corrosion is one of the main causes of product failure in metal parts and coated surfaces. The salt spray test shows how well your coatings, surface treatments, or materials resist harsh environments, using an accelerated setup that compresses months or years of real-world exposure into a controlled test period. How the test works
Your samples, up to 20 kg, are placed in a salt spray cabinet and exposed to a fine mist of neutral salt solution at an elevated temperature, with cut edges coated beforehand so they don't skew the result. The test runs for a set period, anywhere from 1 hour up to 10,000 hours depending on your standard or requirement, while we check the evolution of corrosion at regular intervals throughout. We can test coated or uncoated material, and undamaged or deliberately scratched samples, so you can see not just how a coating resists corrosion but how far it spreads once the coating is compromised.
What you learn from this test
You receive a clear report with photographs documenting the corrosion behavior: time to first rust, the percentage of affected surface, and the degree of blistering or coating loss. These insights help engineers and quality teams select the best coating systems, compare suppliers, and demonstrate compliance with corrosion resistance requirements, supporting confident decisions on product lifetime, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
