Chemical resistance test

 

Analysis of the chemical resistance of a coating or material.

Test procedures:

1. Chemical resistance “spot” test
A small volume of the test liquid is brought into contact with the material surface and is covered with a cover glass. After a certain period of time, the influence of the liquid on the test surface is examined. Usually the contact time is limited to minutes, several hours or 1 day.

2. Solvent resistance rub test (MEK)
The solvent rub test is used for checking the degree of cure of a baked film by rubbing the surface with a cloth soaked with MEK. The amount of rubs until failure are counted.
