Condensation test
During condensation or humidity testing, the water resistance of coatings is tested by exposing samples to an atmosphere maintained at 100% relative humidity so that condensation forms on the test specimens.
This accelerated test simulates the impact of long periods of surface wetting due to rain or dew which could cause corrosion, mechanical damage and so on.
Can be applied to:
metals, plastics, composites, coatings
Test method standards:
ISO 12944-2, ISO 6270-2, ASTM D2247, DIN 50017
Test procedure:
Samples of various sizes with a maximum of 20 kg are placed in a cabinet with an elevated temperature and humidity. Cutting edges are coated, after which the samples are placed in the test cabinet for a predetermined period of time (between 1 and 10,000 hours). During testing, the evolution of the corrosion is checked at regular intervals. At the end of the test, a clear report and accompanying photographs is presented illustrating the course of the corrosion behavior.
The test can be done on both coated and uncoated, undamaged and scratched material, and it can be carried out in combination with a salt spray test.
Lead time:
5 business days
All tests – composites – metals – plastics – coatings – adhesives – 3D prints
