The sample is introduced into the TMA. Changes in dimensions are measured as function of temperature or time.
Small – large sample needed (max length 55 mm), temperature range -150 to 500°C, N2 flow. Force range 0.01 – 18 N, Frequency range 0.001-1000 Hz.
Viscoelastic behaviour, relaxation behaviour, glass transition, mechanical moduli, damping behaviour, softening, viscous flow, crystallisation and melting, gelation, phase transformations, composition of blends, polymerisation and curing reactions, material defects, effects due to fillers, etc.
