 Heat Deflection Temperature & Vicat

Measurement of the heat deflection temperature (HDT) is actually a 3-point bending measurement performed with a temperature rise ramp defined by the standard.

Can be applied to:

Thermoplastics

Test method standards:

ISO 75, ISO 306

Test procedure:

The sample is placed on the device and the entire device is placed in an oil bath with a regular rise of temperature.

The softening point (Vicat) of a thermoplastic is the temperature at which a calibrated needle penetrates 1 mm into the material when it is subjected to a rise in temperature.

Lead time:

One business day

All tests – composites – metals – plastics – coatings – adhesives – 3D prints
