Macrography

This test is used to observe the structure of welds, fracture surfaces and corrosion. By observing the structure of the metal with a stereomicroscope, we can evaluate the weld, the fracture and the corrosion of components and detect possible defects in the material.

The samples are placed under a stereomicroscope and photographed. These macrographs are then analysed by our material experts and described in a report. Prior to observation, samples can be cut, polished, etched or embedded.
